Uniforms...

I was reading a message board on AOL about uniforms. My son wears a uniform to school. I love that because it's less expensive than buying new school clothes. However I read one post on this board from a woman who was bitching and complaining about how much she HATES uniforms. Her entire post was filled with misspelled words. At the end of her post it said "Pissed off in Mississippi." All I could think after reading that was "You're going to complain about uniforms?! You should complain more about the education system considering your post was filled with so many misspelled words it was awful!" No offense at all to anyone in Mississippi. But if your post if filled with misspelled words, let's complain more about what our kids are being taught rather than what they're having to wear!

My South

I recently read a blog from Mike a friend of my friend Heather (check my list of fellow bloggers). Anyway, his blog was on his "South." So here's My South. My South is home cooked food, fried chicken, peach cobbler (which I can no longer eat due to allergies), picking veggies and sitting snapping peas. My South is the family, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and all getting together for no reason, just to hang out and eat. My South is running around barefoot with friends until past dark, fishing, swimming in rivers til my hands and feet were all shriveled up. My South is driving to Tennessee through the mountains and stopping to collect natural spring water. My South is having to "find a switch" when I've misbehaved. My South is dancing to and singing Hank Williams "You're Cheatin' Heart" with my Papa. My South is just that...MY South. For all my southern friends, what's your South?

So Thankful...

I'm so thankful for how well Jackson has done. First he was born with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia and had surgery at 2 weeks old to correct that. For those that don't know what that is, he was born with a hole in his diaphragm and his intestines were in his chest cavity, affecting the growth of his left lung. He did great after the surgery. While still in the hospital we learned he had Craniosynostosis. That's where the soft spots in his skull close prematurely. He had surgery for that on February 13, at almost 6 months of age. He wears a helmet now to protect his head and to help shape his skull as it grows back. Well one of the little girls around here (I say little even though she's 14 because I'm old. LOL) has a cousin who had Craniosynostosis. He had to have surgery TWICE for that because after his first surgery his skull grew back too fast. She said he's 4 months old now, so it had to be major for him to have to have surgery so early. And all I can say (knock on wood) is thank GOD for the progress Jackson has had.

I should have learned my lesson...

I really should have learned my lesson about my mother long ago. Last week, I text messaged my AUNT about babysitting Sunday because I KNEW she wouldn't complain or anything. Instead, my mother, who was with my aunt at the time, text messaged me and was all pissed off.SO I invited my mother to go with us and specifically said she'd be watching the younger kids whil Jimmy, Jay and I went fishing. That never happened. SHE wanted to go too. So we all....Jimmy, me, all of our 4 kids, my mother loaded up in a small boat to go fishing.I was freaking out the whole time, eny of mykids moved. The WHOLE point of me inviting my mother was for her to watch the younger kids. But as usual, she was too selfish for that. I have now officially learned my lesson, to the disbelief of others. I can NO longer count on my mother. Heather, Cherry, please slap me next time I think I can count on my mother! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mmm...Mmm....Good...

Tonight, my mother came over to watch the kids while Jimmy and I went out. We decided to try this restaurant called Carrabba's Italian Grill. All I can say is OH MY FUCKIN GOD! This food was awesome. Not only the food but the ambiance. The people were friendly, helpful but not pushy. The food was the best we've had in so long. For anyone who lives here in the Lowcountry, I HIGHLY recommend it. It's on Rivers Avenue by the Northwoods Mall. We both ordered the Chicken Marsala with Shrimp Scampi as an appetizer. Both were so delicious. Heather, we have got to get together with the four of us and go. It was so yummy!

I took some cute pics of Jackson yesterday. I gave him this Gerber cracker and when I look over at him, it's stuck to his cheek. Of course I grabbed the camera, hoping it would still be there. LOL It was. Well tonight I was playing around with the pic and Jimmy wanted to see it in black and white. So here it is. Isn't he just so cute?! LOL See the cracker? Jimmy said I need to caption the pic as "Take a picture, it'll last longer." LOL

ok...

Going off of WTM's blog on Muffias...I have to say, I am sooooooooo sick of the moms around here who think their kids are sooooooooo perfect!. The kids my kids want to play with really get on my last nerve. There's this one kid, I'll call A, who is always getting in trouble in the apartment complex I live in. He and another brat my kids play with were caught trying to break into the Homework club here. The Homework Club is something our apartment complex has for FREE for our kids here to get help with homework and socialize with others, as well as have cool field trips. A's mom thinks he's so perfect and gets really upset when I confront her with something her brat has done to one of my kids...ususally my 5 year old who's several years younger than her brat. This brat once rode off on my son's mike with NO permission from anyone, then totally denied it. We finally found his bike the next day hidden behind another apartment building. Another "friend" Nacho....yes his nickname is Nacho, is constantly getting caught starting fires.....when I go and tell his barely English speaking parents about whatever I catch him at, they brush it off. Am I the only one who punishes their children for bad behaviour? Cussing? Climbing into other people's cars or boats? Stealing? My children get punished for everything I catch them at or find out about. The sad thing is, most of the kids around here will end up in jail or pregnant before they're 14. How sad is that?! And while I can't prevent my kids from the same fate, I can damn certainly try!

Happy Anniversary

Yesterday was our Anniversary. 11 years! WOOHOO! My cousin had spent a couple of days with us. Her mother (my aunt of course) volunteered to watch my kids so Jimmy and I could go out for our anniversary. We left before my aunt got here, but my cousin is old enough to babysit and very reliable, so we felt fine leaving, knowing my aunt was on her way. A little background here...my mother lives with my aunt and my aunt's 4 kids. They were both on vacation this past week so decided to fog the house, bomb it, whatever. Being that my mother is completely lazy, my aunt has been trying to get everything cleaned and back where it goes by herself. So on the way to my house, my aunt stopped at the convenient store my mother works at to get gas. She was complaining to my mom about not being able to get the house clean. She was hoping my mother would take a hint...no such luck. Especially when my selfish mother says, "Why don't you just tell Kaytee you can't babysit?" My aunt just looked at her and said, "I'm not going to do that. For one she's already left and for another it's her Anniversary!" My aunt was livid. And I really do NOT blame her. I know how lazy my mother is. After I had Korinne by c-section, she volunteered to stay with us for a couple of weeks to help with Jay and Justin, who were 7 and 2 at the time. The whole time she was there, she was yelling at me for cleaning, for vacuuming. Well dammit, she wasn't doing it and I cannot stand a floor that's not vacuumed. Especially when I have a toddler playing all over it! It wasn't even 3 days before I was begging Jimmy to take her home. LOL So anyway, we had invited Jimmy's sister's and husbands to join us for dinner. We were going to a japanese steakhouse. Only one of his sisters was able to make it. We met up with her husband afterwards. She ended up paying for our dinner. So we had decided to pay for their drniks when we met up with Larry at the bar. However, when the tabs came, he snatched his, stuck his card in it and gave it back to the waitress before I could even blink. LOL We came home and totally planned on going to bed early so we could get up early to take the kids fishing. Well we went to bed about midnight or so. Yeah, that's late for us. LOL I woke up with Jackson at 5 and debated waking everyone up at 6. LOL So we went fishing today, didn't catch anything, but still enjoyed ourselves. Jackson sat in his stroller for a while. Then I put him in my lap while fishing. He was holding the pole with me. It was so damn cute, like he was fishing too. LOL Then we just hung out at home until evening before going to check out another landing for possible fishing. Nope, not taking my kids there! There's gators in it. No way are my kids getting that close to the water. LOL All in all, it was a great weekend! I love that we do things with the kids so much. They love fishing even though we don't catch anything. LOL Just another random thoughts blog from me. LOL

Yet another reason I hate people. LOL

Jay sees this doctor for his ADHD. This doctor answers his cell phone while we're in the room. I find that extremely rude. He wrote a prescription last month for a different medicine that requires pre-approval form medicaid. He told me to wait a week before getting the prescription filled and he would get it pre-approved. I ended up waiting 2 weeks because he still had medicine. So when I go to get it filled, I learn the asshat did NOT get the pre-approvement. So I had to call the pharmacy every day for 3 days before it was finally approved. Well Tuesday I called the asshat's office to get a refill. I asked if it would be ready by Friday since I would be out and about anyway. Yes, of course it'll be ready. I just left the office empty handed because the dumb ass hadn't written the prescription yet! I am totally switching doctors. So now I have to get a referral from his pediatrician then get a list of doctors from MUSC. Yeah it sounds like a headache. But I'd much rather have the headache than to continue to deal with that dumbass again.

My Mother @@

My mother is the MOST insecure person ever. Though she's also the type that blames everyone else for her problems. Case in point, she got pregnant with me at 15, had me at 16. The WHOLE reason her life is so screwed up is beacuse of me. I've come to teerms that it's really NOT my fault she's screwed up, though it took years. She told me at 13 that I was a mistake. How devestating! Anyway, she's now living with one of her sisters. Said sister has 4 kids, like me, so understands how difficult it is to find a sitter for that many kids. Well my Aunt Joanne and I have a trade going on. The Saturdays she has her kids and has to work half a day, she'll bring them over here. 3 kids...14, 9 and 9. The Saturdays her kids are at their father's she'll come over here and watch mine so Jimmy and I can do whatever. Because as she says, "I know what it's like to not have anyone watch 4 kids so we can go out." So anyway, she has her kids this weekend, but I asked her to watch mine anyway because it's our Anniversary. I called her last night and asked. My mother, the paranoid one, called me today and says, "How come you didn't want to talk to me last night?" I said, "I just had a question for Aunt Joanne. I just wanted to know if she'd watch the kids Saturday." She's like, "Oh okay." As if I would tell her if I complained about her ot not. LOL I didn't. But still.

Checking in

I've got to get better at this blogging stuff! So here's what's been going on. We took the kids fishing again this past Sunday. We went to my sister's house in Moncks Corner to meet up with my BIL. My sister kept Jackson for us so we could all enjoy fishing without worrying if he'll get fussy. We didn't really catch anything, but we still had a great time. After fishing, we went back to my sister's house for a cook out. The kids played in the wading pool the whole time. The burgers were pink in the middle so I stuck with the hot dogs. LOL My cousin Bradley was there. He's 15. He went fishing with us and was fine. But as soon as my Aunt showed up with his girlfriend, his attitude went down hill quickly! He was being an ass shushing everyone. I was good at ignoring him. At least until he was about to throw something at Jimmy....with Jackson in Jimmy's arms. Jimmy said, "I wouldn't do that if I were you. It's not me you have to worry about. It's her right there sitting behind you." (He pointed to me.) Not long after, he and his girlfriend went and sat in the car. Then we all enjoyed ourselves even more. LOL Rinnie is sick. :( Her stomach started bothering her Monday. Then she's been running a fever. She has moments where she's feeling fine but still has a fever and gets so upset that she can't go outside to play. Justin is grounded for the rest of the week. I caught the little brat playing inside my neighbor'scar! Not mine. My neighbor's! I was livid! I made him go upstairs and tell the neighbor he was sorry for playing in her car. She said she usually locks it unless she's going right back out. I guess she'll be locking it all the time now. LOL Justin's friend, Malcolm, was playing in it too. I told his mother. He's in trouble too. Jay has this week off then he'll be starting the Homework Club's summer program. The Homework Club is this club our apartment complex has (free) where the kids go after school to do their homework and activities. The summer program they have school work for an hour and a half, the activities. They'll review what they'd learned over the school year and start on things they'll elarn next school year. Every couple of weeks they'll have field trips, in which I've volunteered to chaperone since I have Lucy Blue that seats 8. Jackson is standing more and more. We had to break out our 6 sided gate. We have it stretched out blocking the hallway and stuff. So he can still crawl all over the living room and dining room. He has a check up with the neurosurgeon Friday. I'mhoping the doctor will be able to give me some idea on how much longer Jackson needs the helmet. So that's news from this end of my world. LOL
